Hydrofoil Fairlight. Interior view of the forward cabin. On the other side of the bulkhead at left is the storage compartment right up in the bow - entered via a hatch in the focsle deck.

Hydrofoil pontoon at Manly Wharf as seen from the approaching hydrofoil Fairlight. Capt Bill Thomas is the skipper this day and his long time friend engineer Rex Smith is on the throttles.

Windshield view from Fairlight as she banks to port around Bennelong Point (flaps on the forward foil used) on the approach to CQ. That's Kanangra over towards the South Pylon of the Harbour Bridge.

Hydrofoil Fairlight's wheelhouse. She is parked @ Balmain Yard for maintenance or repairs. Engineer's seat is on the right, skipper in the centre and deckhand on the left (out of frame). Bit of visible junk lying around the place - but that is not unexpected if she's not running at the time.

The upper deck cabin of Fairlight, here tied up @ Wharf 2 Circular Quay. Seated passengers are waiting for the departure for Manly and the loud and low rumble of the idling twin diesels - located directly below the floor at this point - will be very audible all through the vessel. If the breeze is blowing in the right direction there'll be a whiff of diesel exhaust coming in through the boarding doorway also.

The open door in front leads into the wheelhouse which (unusually) is open at this moment. Presumably the skipper or engineer has ducked ashore for a couple of minutes. It would of course always remain shut when the vessel was underway.
